Kids' E-Bikes from fullbike

With their own e-bike, young and older children can easily keep up with adults without losing the fun. An e-bike for children turns inclines into an experience and long distances into an adventure. Discover high-quality e-bikes for children that make no compromises in terms of safety, design, and performance.

What should you consider when buying an e-bike for children?

When it comes to an electric bike for children, the main focus is on safety and easy, fun handling. Therefore, when buying a new children's e-bike, pay particular attention to the following components:

  • Frame: A child-friendly aluminum frame offers robustness with low weight, while appropriate wheel sizes – from 16″ to 20″ to 26″ – ensure comfort and control.
  • Motor: For the motor, a torque between 40 and 70 Nm is recommended: This strikes the balance between assistance and riding experience. Look for mid-drive motors – they offer a balanced center of gravity.
  • Battery: A battery with 250–418 Wh is absolutely sufficient for everyday rides and tours, and is compact, light, and powerful enough.
  • Brakes & Travel: Hydraulic or mechanical brakes and suspension with 80 mm travel ensure safety and riding comfort, especially off-road.
  • Accessories: A display with a control unit allows for easy operation, even by children's hands.

From what age is an e-bike worthwhile for children?

Basically, there is no age limit for e-bikes that support speeds up to a maximum of 25 km/h. These are legally treated like normal bicycles. To find out if an e-bike is worthwhile for your child, you should answer the following questions with YES:

  1. Your child enjoys cycling and is very confident.
  2. Your child's balance and coordination are well developed.
  3. Shifting gears, steering, and braking are no problem for your child.
  4. Your child can assess speeds and dangers well and knows when to brake.

One thing is certain: because the electric motor adds weight, e-biking is definitely different from riding an unmotorized children's bike. Your child should therefore definitely be experienced in cycling before a children's e-bike makes any sense.

Good to know

Children under 12 years of age may only participate in road traffic with an accompanying person over 16 years of age.

From the age of 12, however, they are allowed to travel independently.

FAQ: Frequent Questions about E-Bikes for Children
