Description
Four Piston
The disc brake system with double diameter caliper design and counter-rotating pistons has different sized pistons at the front and rear. The system incorporates a power transmission system in which the brake disc is pushed by the smaller piston at the entrance of the brake disc mount and also by the stronger, larger piston at the rear. This prevents the shaking movement of the brake disc and significantly reduces noise.
The four-piston caliper increases the contact area with the brake disc, while its size remains compact.
The position of the pads is precisely designed to stabilise the pressure. Moreover, in combination with the SERVOWAVE brake lever, an incredible 50% more braking power is achieved than with the previous model. The advanced SAINT/ZEE disc braking system can be adapted to the rider's braking habits and produces a smooth, superbly controlled braking force.
ICE Technologies
Brake fade during prolonged uninterrupted use, for example on a downhill slope, affects braking performance. SHIMANO has introduced brake discs and pads with ICE TECHNOLOGIES to create a cooling technology for consistently high braking performance. The brake disc has a three-layer sandwich structure of stainless steel outside around an aluminum core.
It radiates heat better and reduces a surface temperature from 400 ˚C to 300˚C, for example. There is also a cooling vane on the brake pad. The design of the disc combined with the cooling fins results in longer pad life, less brake noise, less fade and lighter weight.
Features
- Increased braking power with less finger effort and extremely linear response to lever movement, braking power, lever travel and response time 30% less compared to M9000
- 10% more braking power (compared to M9020)
- Powerful control
- High pressure
- Version for banjo fitting and internal power routing
