OPTAL

The HR spoke system uses 21 spokes: 14 right and 7 left. The cassette width in today's wheels causes a balanced tension in traditional 1:1 spoke systems. This imbalance is intensified by the 11-speed cassette, which exerts almost double the tension on the spokes on the right.

Under certain circumstances, spokes with high and low tension can break or come loose. Unbalanced tension affects durability and strength. The OPTBAL design balances spoke tension, improving wheel stiffness and strength for a more robust wheel.
