Panchowheels wheelset Fabric XC25 29er textile Sram

Panchowheels promises weight savings of up to 300 g per wheelset with its synthetic spoke - a considerable leap. However, this is not supposed to have been bought with worse properties or compromises in durability and load capacity. What's behind the fiber spoke? With a density of just 1.4 g/cm3, the raw material called Vectran ® is almost half the weight of aluminium and lighter than carbon fibre. More importantly, it weighs only 1/6 of the steel normally used for spokes. Vectran fibers are spun from liquid crystal polymers and gathered into fiber bundles, twelve of which are then braided into a PI ROPE spoke. A special coating is used to protect the fibers from UV radiation and to provide additional abrasion protection.
